Vienna Conference (2022)

On September 15th, 2022, a historic three-day meeting was held in Vienna, Austria to discuss the future of Afghanistan, following the Taliban's takeover. The meeting was attended by several anti-Taliban politicians, including Commander Ahmad Massoud, Fawzia Koofi Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Rahmatullah Nabil, Shukria Barakzai, Zalmai Rasool, Hussain Yasa, along with 30 other key figures who oppose the Taliban.

Organized by the Austrian Institute for International Affairs, the conference was the first of its kind in a European country since the Taliban's takeover. The primary agenda of the meeting was to discuss cohesion and coordination among politicians who oppose the Taliban, and to strategize a way forward for the future of Afghanistan.

Commander Massoud, the leader of the National Resistance Front, was the most significant participant at the meeting. He made a powerful promise to the attendees, stating that he would do everything in his power to restore Afghanistan as a home to all its indigenous groups. His commitment to rebuilding a united Afghanistan resonated with hundreds of people from around the world who flocked to Vienna to honor him.
